Parent Council
Our objective is simple – to enhance the learning experience of our children by improving their campus environment and providing them needed additional resources to achieve and thrive.
The Zoo Magnet Parent Council is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. There are no membership fees and we meet monthly at the Zoo Magnet Campus. See the Calendar for the specific dates and times.
Our projects include Annual Fundraising, the Annual Winter Potluck and Silent Auction, the Annual Spring Picnic, the fall and spring Extreme Makeover Days, as well as a Health Faire and Career Faire. We provide support at new student orientation, Back to School Night, Parent Teacher Conferences and host a Teacher appreciation lunch. We provide a variety of guest speakers covering such topics as applying to college, paying for college, test-taking for college admissions, etc. We have parents who assist in the office, help at campus events including Earth Day, and even maintain our landscaping and water our recently planted trees. In other words, we provide services to the school where needed.
Through our fundraising efforts we have purchased:
- PA system
- Awning over food service area and office
- Picnic Tables and umbrellas
- Shade sails for the courtyard
- Message Board
- Teacher wish list items
- Field trips
- Water Fountain
- Teacher Appreciation luncheon
- Honoraria for guest speakers at the Career Faire and Health Faire
- A scholarship for a senior
We encourage participation from all of our families without regard to their ability to provide financial contributions. We have parents who bake cookies and cakes for our events; squeeze oranges for orange juice at our campus events; host a ceramic mask-making event; help out in the school office; put up decorations for the Potluck Dinner or provide a pot of soup, and lick envelopes!
