Zoo Magnet State Testing Performance Sets a New Standard!
Congratulations to all! Zoo Magnet student performance on the 2009 CA State Standards Tests improved by an order of magnitude over 2008. Zoo Students tested at 79% proficient and advanced in English language arts, up from 74% in 2008. In mathematics they scored 39% proficient and advanced—still below expectations, but far better than the discouraging 12% in 2008. We hope this terrific improvement inspires even greater effort this year. The fate of the entire North Hollywood High School community depends on Zoo Magnet students doubling down and outperforming 2009. Parents! Support and encourage your students—emphasize the importance of doing their very best on these high-stakes tests. Without supreme effort from Zoo Magnet students, North Hollywood could find itself a Program Improvement 3 school in as little as 15 months; making us vulnerable to District and State sanction—including “reorganization.” It is an open question whether our small, expensive magnet program could survive such intervention.
