Integration claims that they no longer have the money to fund 1/2 of the position and the LAUSD 2010 staff-funding tables call for 600+ students per counselor. Presently, the plan is for the Zoo and the HGM to share the same counselor whose time would be divided between the two campuses. I need hardly remind you that the counseling work load for Zoo and HGM are in many respects far greater than for the main campus. Again, I trust and respect Dr. Delling, but I am all but certain that his comforting assurances will translate to "sorry, no can do" in September. If the Zoo Magnet school community wants a dedicated Zoo counselor, they are going to have to make a great deal of noise directed at Cortines and the Board of Ed.
